About This Piece

A rubber glass shard that looks disturbingly real, cast from actual stunt glass used in Strangers: Prey at Night. The original shards came from the trailer window. The scene where the truck crashes through the wall and couch.

Light plays across the translucent rubber shard as if it were real glass. A finishing touch, dipped in tinted rubber, creates a crimson drop of blood that appears to cling to the broken edges of the pendant.

Safe to wear, unsettling to see. An easy way to add a little danger to everyday outfits, or something strange to keep your hands busy.

Each shard is hand-cast and one of a kind.

FILM CONNECTION

June 6, 2017. Day 6 of 28 on Strangers: Prey at Night. I was Assistant Prop Master, and that day I was helping collect broken stunt glass from the reverse shot of Pinup throwing a rock through a window. The shattered bits went straight into a bag that got tossed on to the props cart in case set dec wanted them later. They didn’t, and the glass was pushed to the bottom and forgotten.

Fast forward to Friday, June 23, Day 18. Scene 54: the truck smashes through the trailer wall, breaking the window and flipping the couch. Those same shards were pulled back out for set dec. Once the take was done, they were set back on the cart, now sporting a Chucky doll dressed as Bagface taped to the front, and buried under bins and tools for the rest of production.

After wrap I found the bag at the bottom of my kit. I almost tossed it, but a few of the shards really caught my eye. They were stunt glass, a little sharp and very brittle, but months later I figured out how to make them into safe rubber shards. And yes, I still keep a small drawer of the originals because I am a goblin that way.
